The Swinton Family - Chapter 2

At the end of week 1, Edna and Mary Swinton had adopted two boys, Colby and Amin.
This weeks update is narrated by Colby.
"It was good to finally get out of the childrens home, although I missed the other kids. When Amin arrived the day after me, I couldn't believe my luck. We'd shared a bunk bed at the home for over three years, although being older I always made sure I slept on the top bunk. The Matron who ran the place was kind enough, but I think we missed out on some of the TLC other kids take for granted. In the new place I finally got my act together, and before long I was a Grade A pupil. Things came harder for Amin, owing to his eyesight."

"The Social Worker, or the Shrew as we called her, hadn't picked up that Amin was almost as blind as a bat. It was funny when he got his first A report card, as he couldn't even read it. How he'd managed it I'm not sure, but it was something to do with brewing cocoa in a volcano. Mrs. O'Reilly, his teacher, was always coming up with weird projects, and Amin excelled at weird!"

"Edna took him into Bluewater, and he finally got his first pair of spec's. He wasn't impressed when after the opticians, she dragged him into the hair salon for a trim. It's the first time I'd ever seen him without his hat, and boy, did it take some getting used to.

"Being a small neighbourhood, it wasn't long before everyone knew about me and Amin. Other kids teased us about having two mum's and no dad, and the fact that they were so old. I didn't care though, as old is better than none where I was concerned. In fact Mary was a right laugh, and Edna was a real softie when it came to letting us boys get what we wanted."

"Now it's strange, but I'd heard grown up's talking about their kids shooting up overnight, and it used to make me laugh. Yeah, right! But believe it or not, one minute I was just a skinny kid, and the next I'd grown about 18 inches, and needed to shave. I had strange thoughts about my future too, and felt the need to find some direction for my life. I wasn't positive, but I thought I might want to train animals. I was sure about one thing though, I wanted to be rich. I put that down to harvesting Mary's simolean trees when I was younger. I liked the feel of coins jangling in my pockets. I wanted the big house, nice car, and prettiest woman."

"I wasn't so bad looking either, although I wasn't that interested in girls yet. I couldn't wait to get to college so I could graduate and start earning the really big bucks!"

"Edna started inviting over some of her young mates, so I'd make a few friends before leaving. Simon Clarke was a member of a Greek House at Sim State University, and made me promise to look him up when I started my Freshman year. Edna's worried about me fitting in, but she needn't be. I've learnt to stand on my own two feet over the years. It's nice to know she cares though."

"She's a strange one, as she never sleeps, just spends all hours of the day and night either on the 'phone or internet talking to her friends. I think she's worried about dying before she reaches her maximum influence or something. Says it's a Sim's obligation to her creator. She has some weird ideas sometimes. "

"I know I'm not supposed to know, but I'll let you into a little bit of gossip. I was up going to the toilet a couple of nights ago, and happened to see Mary smooching with Esther Middleton our neighbour. I know about woohoo and stuff, Edna explained it to me a while back. Well it seems Mary waits until me and Amin are in bed, and then invites Esther over to the house for a hot date. I don't know why she keeps it so hush hush, I don't think either me or Amin care, as long as she's happy."

"Well the day after I had the strange growing up experience, Amin followed suit. I wasn't surprised when he revealed he wanted to focus his life on a family, he'd missed not having his own much more than I had. Apparently his elementary teacher, Mrs. O'Reilly, had inspired him to go to University, and eventually to take up teaching. All I can say is good luck, he'll need the patience of a saint. Both Mary and Edna are nearing the end of their sim days, and so me and Amin have both decided not to bother too much gaining scholarships. We're going to head off straight away for Uni., so we can return home and finish building their dream home before they finally die. After all, one good turn deserves another, as Edna would say, and they've been good to me and my 'bro.!"

That is so cute! I loved it! It's nice to know that the boys want to make their adoptive mommy's happy!

This is really a "catch-up" comment on all of round 2--what fun! I like all your sims, especially the one who speaks in cliches! I love these two boys, too--it's sweet that they are so fond of their two elderly moms. And the goings-on at Uni were great fun, too. I love your stories.
