The O'Reilly Family

Siobhan, and her Mum Bridget, have moved to Fortunicity after her parents' messy divorce. It's taught Siobhan one thing, if nothing else; Romance sims are just not to be trusted. Siobhan found out about her Father's affair when she came home early from school with the 'flu. The woman in question was their maid, Kaylynn Langerak. Her Dad was besotted with Kaylynn, but the feelings weren't mutual. Siobhan had to laugh when she heard later that Kaylynn had married another of her cleaning clients, Daniel Pleasant. Town gossip being what it is, Bridget decided a fresh start somewhere new was in both her and Siobhan's interests. Investing her divorce settlement in a plot of land in the newly founded town of Fortunicity, the pair left their former neighbourhood, vowing never to return.

Bridget got straight down to learning, her only love in life from now on. Whilst married she'd barely learnt to boil an egg. Being married to the Mayor meant a pampered lifestyle, and Bridget had hardly lifted a finger. Butler, Cook, Maid, Chauffeur; all were provided, and sadly taken for granted. Her divorce, plus the move, shocked Bridget into giving up her former life of Pleasure. Now her new priority was learning, and to pass that Knowledge on through teaching.

Siobhan sets her heart on obtaining the Bui Scholarship for Engineering, and begins to wade her way through Mechanics for Morons.

"I'm so pretty! Aren't I pretty Mum? Don't you think I'm just gorgeous?"
As a narrator, there's nothing worse than a self obsessed Fortune teen. This girl seriously loves herself, and can't pass a mirror without admiring herself. I've never had a teenager like it.

The 'welcome wagon' arrives, although their behaviour is less than welcoming! Did they bring a homemade casserole, or flowers perhaps? No they proceeded to have a punch up in the living room. Maybe the neighbourhood isn't as 'nice' as Bridget thought. The place certainly seems to harbour some 'not so nice' sims. Boxing gloves anyone?

The culprit? None other than 'Mr. Nice' himself, Komei Tellerman. Bridget has heard rumours about the man, and now cannot wait to meet him. NOT!

Siobhan soon gets friendly with some of the local lads, and invites one on a date. As soon as Ricky Cormier reveals he is a Romance sim, Siobhan keeps the action on a purely platonic basis. There is no way she'd fall for an untrustworthy Romance Sim, her Father's past behaviour has seen to that.

At least the date ends well, and Siobhan has a new best friend.
It's also good news from the narrators point of view; another sim heading for University, is another sim for the neighbourhood!

Oops. A random chance card has resulted in Bridget being fired from her teaching position. Unfortunately Bridget chose to give the older bullies in her playground orange wedges instead of detention. That's what you get for not taking a hard line on bullying. Bridget should have known better.

"What do you mean, I should have known better! I'm all for a bullying crackdown. It was you that had the Power, remember?"

"Sorry Bridget. On the plus side, your social is so far down, if you make the effort, you can make a much needed friend. Really easily."

"Great! And I suppose the bills will pay themselves in the meantime will they? Good job I've kept all the old papers, including the last one of three delivered. I can at least apply for my old job back. It would seem I am actually the brains behind this partnership! And next time, think before you click Einstein"

Siobhan spends the evening after her date with Ricky studying Advanced Mechanics for the not so Advanced Brain. And thinking about herself, which isn't unusual.

Bridget makes the acquaintance of Esther Middleton, and they soon become firm friends.

Siobhan makes the acquaintance of Baron, and they soon realise they'll never be friends.
I've noticed, in my travels around the neighbourhood there seems to be more than the average quota of wolves. Which is strange, when you consider there are hardly any trees. Maybe they turn up more frequently because there are fewer houses for them to visit. There seems to be ample opportunity for a sim to befriend a Werewolf, as besides Baron here, there's Benny (wimp name for a Werewolf!), and another one called Byron.

Friday, Bridget goes back to her old job, and is actually promoted. This ends her week on a high note, and gives her the weekend to work on her impossible want of maxing all her skills. She'll probably spend some quality time with Siobhan. If Siobhan can tear herself away from the mirror.

Siobhan comes home from work sick with the 'flu. On the plus side she's promoted to the top of the Medical Teen Career Track. It's a scholarship, although not in Law, which just didn't come up in the paper. Sadly both Siobhan and Bridget, who contracts the 'flu from her daughter, spend the weekend coughing and making numerous trips to the bathroom. By the end of the weekend both have recovered, and look forward to gaining more skill points and scholarships next time.

This seems like an easy family compared to some of your others. I loved Siobhan admiring herself in the mirror - I've never noticed any of my Sims doing this... I'll keep an eye out :D

That's so funny about Komei because one of my founders ended up marrying him and he was nothing but nice the whole time! LOL I love the similarities and differences.

I like the way you explained why Bridget had no skills as an adult at the beginning of the challenge. It was that pampered lifestyle!

That Ricky Cormier is making the rounds with all the teen girls in town!

Ha Komei is always mean in my game. Brandi LeTourneau is always nice. She was the first townie married in my Prosperity...she is the mother of a branch of the Stricklands.

In the first blog entry for Dowlings here, there was a pick of Ben Long and Marisa Bendett getting into it. Those two showed up in the welcome wagon in my shared legacy with Lynn (The Devereux's) and fought as well. heh

ROFL at the teen obsessed with her looks. I've never seen that either or never noticed it. Funny.

Nice start with this family as well. Siobhan cracks me up. For a fortune sim she sure does like herself a lot. Good call for her to avoid Ricky though, he's bad news.

Well, everyone else covered everything, so I'll just say that Komei Tellerman is a real meanie in my game. And Ben can be the biggest sourpuss I've ever met. Which is weird because in other neighborhoods, he's just the sweetest. *shrug* And where he's a sourpuss, he always gets into it with Marisa. I feel for her.
